Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Restaurant

I am in Singapore, I have to have Hainanese Chicken, right?
Michelle took us to Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Restaurant before when Chris and I were here first time around. Food hasn't changed. It was still very good.

This is Hainanese Chicken that I am used to, but I like this so much better.

Park family is here, so we had to order vegetable.

Hotel Brunch

When Chris and I first visited Singapore, Michelle took us to Hyatt for a brunch. Hotel brunch buffet is very popular in Asia, but of course, Singapore always does it right when it comes down to food. If you want something extra, you can also have an option of unlimited champagne, but we didn't have that option this time.

In normal places, I usually walk away from hotel restaurants, but Singapore is the only place that I love eating at hotels.

It's a buffet after all, so we went for expensive items only. Don't fill yourself up with carb...

Chocolate fountain... yum...

Sin Hoi Sai Seafood Restaurant

Chris came to this restaurant last time he was in Singapore. One thing he told me to eat no matter what was "coffee flavor spare ribs." And of course, I take orders like that well.

Sin Hoi Sai Seafood Restaurant has to be my new favorite spot in Singapore!!!

Baby Kai Lan - Stir fried with garlic oyster sauce.

Kang Kung

I don't know what they did to these clams, but they were so yummy...

Pepper crab

Yes, these are the ribs... so good.........

Raffles Hotel, Singapore

This is my 3rd visit to Singapore, but this is my first time to try Singapore Sling. Singapore Sling was created in Raffles hotel. It is an experience! Plus Raffles hotel is a beautiful spot in the middle of Singapore to relax.

Landed in Singapore

Landed in Singapore... 25 hours after I left JFK...

After a tour of Michelle's beautiful shophouse, we were off to do important things - getting our nails done and my acupuncture treatment...

But of course, we had to stop at a food court - my favorite thing about Singapore.
We went to Wisma Atria (I think that's where we went... still 100% after torturous flights...).
I had the same thing last time - watercress salad. We are going to Thailand next week, but I still had to have this...

Watercress salad, my favorite Thai restaurant in New York has this on their menu, but it's done a bit differently. I prefer this version...

Of course, I had to have red ruby...

Do you remember those potato chips that Chris didn't bring back last time? I had to buy them myself this time. They were good...

I know, I know. I am showing off now. I had 3 bags of mangosteens this time. Couldn't get enough of them.

Long flights...

After two flights, a crying baby right next to me and a few very loud people, we are about to land in Hong Kong. My flight to Vancouver wasn't that bad, but flight from Vancouver to Hong Kong was terrible. On top of crying little people, turbulence over Japan almost killed all of us.

Now, I am at my favorite airport in the world - Hong Kong airport!!! I am eating my breakfast, congee and feel better now. I haven't been here since 2001. It's too bad that I don't get to leave the airport (just because I don't have enough time), but congee makes me feel better already. Let's hope that I don't sit next to another crying baby on my next flight to Singapore.

My breakfast...

My favorite airport in the world!!! But Singapore airport comes pretty close...

Can't talk s@#$ about Mario Batali anymore!!!

We have been meaning to go to one of Mario Batali's restaurants for a long time. We have been to Bar Jamon many times, which is still my favorite Tapas bar, but this time we wanted to go to a proper restaurant for Chris's birthday. I was trying to make a reservation at Babbo, but was full. I was told that it's hard to make a reservation there, but I guess being a Mother's Day weekend really didn't help.

So, I was able to make a reservation at Del Posto. Walking inside, we didn't know what to expect, because it looked very uptight to us. But as soon as bread started coming out we knew we were in a right place. Del Posto has an in-house bakery and bread was served with butter and pork fat. When pork fat is served with bread, you know it's serious. Sorry... picture didn't come out perfect, because I couldn't use flash...so no pictures of food... but the below is the picture of pork fat and butter:

We ordered two tasting menu. Every dish was amazing. That's right, Mario Batali is serious about food. Now I can't wait to try his other restaurants. Especially abalone with asparagus was great. Chris doesn't even like abalone, but he loved it.

The restaurant's wine list was phenomenal. Of course, we couldn't afford a $5000 bottle of wine, but we were given two free glasses of great dessert wine for Chris's birthday. Chris wrote down the name... I just have to find it...

That's right, now we can't talk s@#$ about Mario Batali anymore...
